BBC Creative U

I was fortunate to be selected for the BBC Creative U Masterclass sessions, a program led by highly respected creative experts offering valuable insights into the industry. Each week, we explored key topics such as strategy, ideation, and storytelling, gaining a deeper understanding of how to develop impactful creative work. We were assigned weekly creative tasks, challenging us to think outside the box, refine our ideas, and present our work for feedback. This experience not only strengthened my creative skills but also gave me a firsthand look at the strategic thinking behind successful campaigns.

Chocolate Bar

Brief: Pick a celebrity and turn them into a chocolate bar –

(what’s in it? What’s it called? What does the wrapper look like?)

Inspired by the legendary David Attenborough,  I wanted the design to reflect his love for exploration, so the wrapper features a vintage map, symbolising the many places he’s traveled. I named it Explorer’s Elegance, a tribute to his adventurous spirit and the rich, sophisticated flavours inside.

The bar itself is a fusion of South African chocolate, Brazil nuts, Himalayan sea salt, and a hint of Indian chilli. Each ingredient is sourced from different parts of the world, just like the places David has explored.

Egg Poster

Brief: Create a poster for a new TV series about an egg. You can decide what kind of TV series it is, but the egg is the main character. What is the series called? Does it have a tag line? Make me want to watch it.

My poster for Crackhead plays on ambiguity and humor to grab attention. The title is a clever wordplay, hinting at both the egg’s cracked shell and its struggle to ‘eggscape’ addiction. The design is simple, just a single egg with a chaotic crack running through it, reinforcing the instability of the main character. The typography adds to the disorder, with the letters subtly spelling ‘cracked.’ The bright yellow background keeps the tone comedic, making it clear this is a funny, unpredictable show. The mystery of what the egg is actually addicted to makes people curious and eager to watch.

Voting Campaign

Brief: Design a poster to encourage the younger generation to vote.

To encourage the younger generation to vote, I wanted to highlight the impact their choices today will have on their future. My design uses the metaphor of a race, with a younger man trailing behind an older man, symbolising how the older generation currently has a greater influence in shaping the future through voting. The tagline, ‘It’s your future, fight for it,’ reinforces the urgency of taking action. By framing it as a competition, I aimed to tap into psychology and create a sense of motivation, encouraging younger people to step up, take control, and make their voices heard through their vote.

Breakdancing Advert

Brief: Create an advert for the new Olympic sport, breakdancing.

For this project, I created a dynamic advert to showcase breakdancing as the newest Olympic sport. I sourced high-energy breakdancing video clips and added an upbeat track, cutting each clip precisely to the beat. This rhythmic editing style keeps the energy high and mirrors the intensity and skill of the sport, making for an engaging and impactful ad.

Cats to like Dogs TikTok

Brief: Create a TikTok that persuades cats to like dogs.

For this project, I created a fun, lighthearted take on a dating app to show how cats can love dogs too. The video starts with a cat scrolling through “Hinge” and coming across a dog. From there, I cut together clips of my own cat and dog sharing beautiful, wholesome moments, highlighting their unexpected but adorable bond. I kept the concept simple, relatable, and in line with today’s trends to make it engaging and fun to watch.

Stunt

Brief: Come up with a stunt for the flower brand Bloom & Wild. You can do it for real, draw us a diagram, describe it in words. Make it memorable. Make it relevant to current events/news. Above all, make me want to share it on social media.

In a world where negativity and conflict dominate the news and social media, Bloom & Wild can create a powerful visual statement for unity and peace. Partnering with Kew Gardens, they will orchestrate a breathtaking flower installation, forming a stunning Tree of Life made entirely of fresh blooms.

Visitors can take part by making a small donation to a cause supporting those affected by conflict. In return, they place a colored flower in a designated section of a large floral wall. As the day unfolds and more people contribute, the once-empty outline of the Tree of Life gradually transforms into a vibrant, fully bloomed masterpiece. Each flower represents an act of kindness, and together, they create a breathtaking symbol of peace, growth, and hope.

The evolving artwork becomes an unmissable, Instagram-worthy moment, with visitors sharing photos and videos online, spreading Bloom & Wild’s message of love, unity, and the beauty of coming together for a cause.

Stop Motion

Brief: Make a loop of animation. Can be any time length (but needs to be a loop)! Can be any medium (2D, stop motion, 3D, paper cut out, claymation, etc)

I created a stop-motion sequence depicting the life cycle of a flower, from growth to decay. With no prior experience in stop motion, I wanted to keep the concept simple yet effective. Using hand-drawn illustrations, I focused on capturing the natural progression of life in a visually engaging way. The result is a seamless, looping animation that tells a story of growth, change, and impermanence.

This experience offered valuable insight into approaching briefs and brainstorming creatively. Check out my logo designs, where I had the chance to apply these skills for clients.
